KEARNY — Grace United Methodist Church, 380 Kearny Ave., Kearny, will host Christmas shopping at its “Dinner-A-Month” Friday, Dec. 11, 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Area residents can enjoy a chance for a one-stop shopping spree for those pesty small gifts for coworkers, neighbors, hostesses or teachers. You can have a casual supper, then shop. Enjoy a soup, sandwich, dessert and beverage for only $7. Call 201-991-1132.

RUTHERFORD — The First Presbyterian Church of Rutherford is sponsoring a 14 week Bible in 90 Days™ Challenge Program starting with an introductory session Sunday, Jan. 3 at 11:30 a.m. Participants in the program will read the entire Bible from cover to cover by reading only 12 pages a day and are welcomed and encouraged to attend the one hour weekly group session designed to review the week’s assigned readings and foster discussion. LYNDHURST — Lyndhurst VFW 3549 will hold a karaoke night Friday, Dec. 11 at 7:30 p.m. at the post hall located at 527 Valley Brook Ave. $5 donation. Refreshments will be served.

SATURDAY 12/12

NORTH ARLINGTON — On Dec. 12 and Dec. 13, That Ten Minute Oil Change Place, 152 Ridge Road, North Arlington, will donate a portion of the gross proceeds to first responders (North Arlington Fire Department and North Arlington Office of Emergency Management).

RUTHERFORD — The GFWC Junior Woman’s Club of Rutherford’s 15th-annual Snack with Santa will be held Saturday, Dec. 12 at the Rutherford Elks Lodge (48 Ames Ave.). There are two sessions: 10 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Tickets cost $9 per child and $7 per adult, and include a photo with Santa, crafts, snacks and stories. Tickets will be issued on a first-come, first-served basis. Mail your session request and a check payable to the JWCR to PO Box 1657, Rutherford, NJ 07070 and please include a self-addressed stamped envelope for tickets to be mailed to you. NORTH ARLINGTON — The North Arlington Emblem Club #297 will hold a breakfast with Santa Sunday, Dec. 13, 9 a.m. to noon, at the North Arlington Elks Lodge, 129 Ridge Road, North Arlington. Adult donation, $7. Children, $3.

NORTH ARLINGTON — The North Arlington High School cheerleaders will hold a clothing drive at North Arlington High School Dec. 13. Drop off old clothes, shoes, curtains, sheets, blankets and toys from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

NORTH ARLINGTON — The North Arlington Woman’s Club invites you to Christmastime in New York City Sunday, Dec. 13, leaving borough hall at 4 p.m. and returning at 6 p.m. Cost is $28, paid by check to N.A. Woman’s Club. Call 201-998-2501 or 201-991-9373.

LYNDHURST — On Sunday, Dec. 13 at 10 a.m., the New Jersey Meadowlands Commission will host a free bird walk with Bergen County Audubon Society. WOOD-RIDGE — The Ladies Auxiliary of the Wood-Ridge Fire Department will sponsor a fund-raiser Monday, Dec. 14 at the fire house, 85 Humboldt St., Wood-Ridge from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. We will host a gold buying party. You can bring any number of gold rings, earrings, bracelets or sterling silver.

TUESDAY 12/15

WOOD-RIDGE — Wood-Ridge Memorial Library hosts its book discussion group every third Tuesday of the month at 7:15 p.m. The book for Dec. 15 is Karen Harper’s “The Queene’s Christmas.”

NORTH ARLINGTON — The Knights of Columbus, Queen of Peace Council and Ladies Auxiliary will hold its toy drive for children with special-education needs served by First Cerebral Palsy of New Jersey. A giving tree is located in the Knights hall. Return wrapped presents by Dec. 15. The hall is open Saturday, 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.

NORTH ARLINGTON — The Healthcare Sub-Committee of the Meadowlands Regional Chamber invites you to the first-annual Cocktails for a Cause, benefiting individuals served by Comprehensive Behavioral Healthcare’s Residential Programs. This holiday event will be held Tuesday, Dec. 15 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Lassoni Ristorante, 602 Ridge Road, North Arlington. All are asked to bring a gift for a CBHCare resident. NORTH ARLINGTON — The North Arlington Board of Health is taking appointments for the seasonal flu vaccine for adults only. Call 201-955-5695.

LYNDHURST — The Department of Parks and Recreation has booked lunch and a show at The Feast of St. Joseph at the Brownstone, March 22. The cost is $45 and includes one-hour “dollar-a-drink bar,” lunch, coffee, tea and beer and soda on table and gratuity. Call 201-804-2482.

EAST RUTHERFORD — The Borough of East Rutherford will conduct holiday decoration judging Thursday, Dec. 17. Members of the East Rutherford Redevelopment Agency will travel throughout town so if you want to be considered, have your decorations ready by Dec. 17.

EAST RUTHERFORD — The John Wesley Methodist Church is once again sponsoring its community-wide free clothing swap meet. All are welcome. We have clothes and shoes for boys, girls, infants, men and women of all ages. There will be some household items available, plus toys and games. The swap meet will take place Saturday, Dec. 19 from noon to 5 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church in the school auditorium, 120 Hoboken Road, East Rutherford.

RUTHERFORD — An Alzheimer’s Association Caregiver Support Group will be held in Rutherford Thursday, Dec. 17 at 10 a.m. at the 55 Kip Center, 55 Kip Ave.

RUTHERFORD — The First Presbyterian Church of Rutherford will hold a special “Blue Christmas” service Sunday, Dec. 20 at 4 p.m. The service, entitled “A Light in the Darkness,” is designed to provide a sacred place for grieving for those in the community dealing with the loss of a loved one, illness, divorce, broken relationships, unemployment, loneliness or other burdens this Christmas season. As part of the service, participants will be invited to light a candle in memory of a loved one or as a special prayer request. RUTHERFORD — Rutherford Congregational Church is offering a visit by carolers to sing at the home of your choice in Rutherford on any one of six evenings during the holiday season.
