Accident

WOOD-RIDGE — On Oct. 31, police reported a car struck a house on Union Avenue and damaged a pole. The incident is under investigation.


Attempted theft

RUTHERFORD — Sometime between Nov. 9 and Nov. 10, police reported someone smashed the passenger’s side rear window and damaged the steering column of a 1996 Chevy Blazer, while parked on Ridge Road.

RUTHERFORD — Police reported that sometime between Nov. 8 and Nov. 10, someone broke the rear vent window, pried the ignition, left a screwdriver in the ignition and stole a MP3 player worth $90 from a 1996 Toyota, while parked on Ridge Road.


Burglary

RUTHERFORD — A 100 block of Chestnut Street resident reported Nov. 4 between 10 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., someone damaged the door plate jam on the front door, entered the home and stole a laptop worth $3,000.

RUTHERFORD — A Sylvan Street resident reported that sometime between Nov. 7 and Nov. 8, someone broke the front passenger’s side window of her 2004 Suzuki and stole a leather jacket ($350) and a Magellan GPS unit ($550), while parked in front of her home.

RUTHERFORD — Police reported that sometime between Nov. 7 and Nov. 8, someone broke the driver’s side door lock of a car parked at the Extended Stay America on Edwin L. Ward Highway. A Tom-Tom GPS unit ($1,000), radar detector ($500) and a gym bag with clothing were reportedly stolen.


DWI

NORTH ARLINGTON — Armindo Alves, 41, of North Arlington, was arrested Nov. 2 at 3:04 a.m. for DWI, failure to exhibit registration and failure to exhibit an insurance card, following a motor vehicle stop on River Road near Belleville Turnpike. Police reported observing Alves’ 2005 Chevy Trailblazer pulling out of the Arlington Diner parking lot and almost striking three parked cars. When asked to conduct a field sobriety test, police reported Alves allegedly almost fell down and was arrested. Alves’ car was impounded, and he was released on summonses to a responsible party.

EAST RUTHERFORD — Andre Holloman, 24, of New York, N.Y., was arrested Nov. 2 at 1:19 a.m. for DWI, speeding, possession of an open container of alcohol and reckless driving, following a motor vehicle stop on Route 3 West. Holloman’s 2003 Acura TL was impounded, and he was released on summonses to a responsible party.

EAST RUTHERFORD — Marco Villafane, 37, of Wallington, was arrested Nov. 8 at 2:45 a.m. for DWI, careless driving, speeding and failure to stop prior to making a right on red, following a motor vehicle stop on Hackensack Street. Villafane’s 2009 Toyota Corolla was impounded, and he was released on summonses to a responsible party.

LYNDHURST — Yovany Tamargo, 43, of Wood-Ridge, was arrested Nov. 6 at 10:09 p.m. for DWI, having an expired registration and having an open container of alcohol in the car, following a motor vehicle stop on Ridge Road and Union Avenue. He was released to a responsible party on summonses.

LYNDHURST — Jessica Perez, 26, of Paterson, was arrested Nov. 7 at 1 a.m. for DWI, careless driving and not wearing a seat belt, following a motor vehicle stop on the exit ramp to Route 21. She was released to a responsible party on summonses.


Fraud

RUTHERFORD — A Clark Court resident reported receiving collection notices for a loan taken out using her Social Security number in Chicago.


Soliciting

EAST RUTHERFORD — Luciano Cepeda, 19, of Miami, Fla., was arrested Nov. 2 at 3:30 p.m. for soliciting N.Y. Giants hats on the shoulder of Route 120. He was released on summonses.


Stolen car

NORTH ARLINGTON — The owner of a 1993 Infiniti J30 reported that sometime between Nov. 1 at 7:30 p.m. and Nov. 2 at 7 a.m., someone stole his car which was parked on Boston Avenue.

EAST RUTHERFORD — On Nov. 2 at 6:19 a.m., police reported notifying a Carlton Avenue resident that her 2000 Mazda Portege was allegedly used in an armed robbery in East Orange earlier that morning. The victim reported parking the car on Elm Street Nov. 1 and had not used it for the remainder of the day.

EAST RUTHERFORD — A Brooklyn, N.Y., resident reported Nov. 7 at 10:01 a.m. that someone stole his 1999 Ford van with 50 cases of Corona beer, while parked at the BJ’s Wholesale Club on Route 17 North.

LYNDHURST — On Nov. 8 at 12:58 p.m., a food delivery male reported someone stole his 1998 Honda, which he left running while making a delivery in the 600 block of Eighth Street.

RUTHERFORD — On Nov. 9 at 9 p.m., police reported recovering a 1989 Honda on Route 3. Police reported the rear driver’s side window was shattered, the ignition was punched and the car was found stolen from Elizabeth.

LYNDHURST — A Stuyvesant Avenue resident reported Nov. 3 at 8 a.m. that someone stole his 1995 Nissan, while parked on Sixth Street.


Theft

NORTH ARLINGTON — On Nov. 4 at 1:24 a.m., a woman reported someone stole her Juicy Girl wallet ($150), which contained $171 in cash, her driver’s license and debit card, while she was at Molly’s Bar and Grill on Ridge Road. Related to the incident, police reported locating Tommy Heredia, 22, of Newark, who was walking around the municipal parking lot. Heredia has a $500 criminal warrant out of Newark and was arrested. Police reported searching him and locating the Juicy Girl wallet. Heredia was charged with theft and possession of stolen property. He was later released on summonses.


Theft from car

EAST RUTHERFORD — A Mineral City, Ohio, resident reported Nov. 2 at 11:43 a.m. that someone punched the passenger’s side cargo bay door and the passenger’s side door of his 2005 Ford E150 and stole several computers and computer components, while parked at the Homestead Village on Route 3 East.

EAST RUTHERFORD — A Glen Rock resident reported that sometime between 7 p.m. and 8:47 p.m. on Nov. 7, someone broke the driver’s side rear window of his 2006 Audi and stole two knapsacks, Apple Mac Book ($2,500), reading glasses ($20), Dell laptop ($2,000), 16G iTouch iPod ($300) and a set of car keys, while parked at Park and Orchard on Hackensack Street.
