EAST RUTHERFORD — On Thursday, Feb. 11, Becton’s Project Graduation Committee will host a talent show. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased in advance or at the door. All proceeds will benefit Becton’s Class of 2010 Project Graduation.

EAST RUTHERFORD — The East Rutherford VFW Post #8374 will hold its next meeting Thursday, Feb. 11 at 7:30 p.m. at the Civic Center, 37 Vreeland Ave. The next party at the Veterans Home in Paramus will be Monday, Feb. 22. FRIDAY 02/12

KEARNY — The trustees of Grace United Methodist Church, 380 Kearny Ave., Kearny, will serve their fantastic pork dinner in their fellowship hall Friday, Feb. 12 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Take-out is available. Adults are $10. Children 12 and under are $5. Call 201-991-1132.

RUTHERFORD — On Friday, Feb. 12, the Meadowlands Museum will hold its third-annual tour and chocolate tasting from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Come to tour the museum’s new exhibits while sampling an array of chocolate desserts donated by area chocolate makers. Each exhibit room at the museum will have a table with samplings of our area’s finest bakers and chocolatiers. The cost is $20 and tickets may be purchased at the door. Enjoy a champagne toast while you see the museum’s newest exhibits of early electric artifacts, Valentine cards, Candy Containers (including one with Lillian Russell on the top), a history of East Rutherford and the start of our upcoming “Getting Married in NJ” exhibit. Proceeds from this event will benefit the preservation and education programs of the museum. The Meadowlands Museum is a local history museum located in a 200-year-old southern Bergen County farmhouse located at 91 Crane Ave. in Rutherford and is open to visitors for part of every day except for Fridays. SATURDAY 02/13

LYNDHURST — St. Thomas’ Episcopal Church will sponsor a food drive at the Lyndhurst Stop & Shop, 425 Lewandowski St., Saturday, Feb. 13 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. to benefit the Lyndhurst Food Pantry. Toiletry items and monetary donations will also be accepted.

WOOD-RIDGE — Assumption Parish Community in Wood-Ridge will observe AIDS Compassion weekend at all the Masses of Feb. 13-14.

RUTHERFORD — On Saturday, Feb. 13 at 3:30 p.m., the Church of St. Mary at 91 Home Ave. in Rutherford will celebrate the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick. The sacrament should be received by any Catholic struggling with a physical, emotional or spiritual illness or those of advanced age. Call 201-438-2200 or 201-438-3743.

SUNDAY 02/14

RUTHERFORD — The First Presbyterian Church of Rutherford now offers a monthly contemporary Christian service on the second Sunday of every month. The next service is Sunday, Feb. 14 at 6 p.m. in the chapel. The service features popular Christian music played by young musicians from the local area. RUTHERFORD — The First Presbyterian Church of Rutherford will hold an uplifting service Sunday, Feb. 14 honoring loving relationships. The service, designed to remind both singles and couples alike of God’s unconditional and unending love, will feature specially selected readings and music representative of this important message. EAST RUTHERFORD — East Rutherford Seniors, Inc. holds its meetings on the second and fourth Tuesday of the month at 1:30 p.m. at the Senior Center. New members are welcome. WEDNESDAY 02/17

WOOD-RIDGE — The Assumption “All Stars” Class of 2010 is hosting a pasta night Ash Wednesday, Feb. 17 in the school cafeteria. EAST RUTHERFORD — The Rosary Altar Society of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church in East Rutherford will sponsor a fish and chips dinner on Ash Wednesday, Feb. 17 at the school cafeteria/auditorium from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tickets are $12 for adults and $9 for children under 12. LYNDHURST — The Lyndhurst Health Department will hold a Women’s Health Screening Wednesday, Feb. 17 at 4 p.m. This screening is open to all female Lyndhurst residents aged 18 years and over. This screening will include a pelvic exam and PAP smear done by Dr. Cheatam. Free. Call 201-804-2500.

RUTHERFORD — The Rutherford Recreation Department’s Girl’s Softball Program is open to all girls in grades K-12. The season begins in March. Softball clinics will be held in March. Travel team tryouts will be in April. Fee is $35. The Recreation Department’s Track and Field Program is open to all children in grades 2-8. Practices are held Mondays and Wednesdays at Tryon Field, 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. starting in late March. Meets will be held Sundays in April, May and June. LYNDHURST — The Lyndhurst Food Pantry is in dire need of food and groceries. The shelves are almost bare. Your help is urgently needed to provide food, paper products and hygiene products for children and adults. LYNDHURST — The Woman’s Club of Lyndhurst will sponsor Valentine’s for Veterans. Decorated boxes will be placed in the children’s room and on the main floor of the Lyndhurst Public Library. Please support this project by placing a valentine card in the box for a veteran.
