 Bears and Cats face off

Sports Scene

(Nov. 5, 2009) — The Lyndhurst Senior Golden Bears defeated the East Rutherford/Carlstadt Wildcats Sunday, Oct. 25, with a final score of 19-0. The Senior Bears recently clinched the division title after playing the Wallington Panthers. Their record is now an outstanding 7 wins and 0 losses with no tied games.

On Sunday, Willie Krajnik, an eighth grade player, had a 70 yard run for the first touchdown of the game in the second quarter.  At half the Golden Bears led the game 6-0.  In the third quarter Nicholas DeMarco intercepted the ball during the Wildcats offensive play putting the Golden Bears on the 6 yard line.  This allowed the perfect opportunity for Isaam Hatahet to run the ball in for the second touchdown of the game.  Hatahet, an eighth grade member of the team, then followed through by catching the pass from Jonathan Hoff for the extra point.  This concluded the third quarter with the score of 13-0.  Finishing up the game in the fourth quarter, Dominick Sellari, an eighth grade player, scored the final touchdown of the game through a pass from Jonathan Hoff, an eighth grade member of the team.  This finalized the game score of 19-0.

In addition to the highlighted plays of the game recognition should also be given to the following starting players both offensively and defensively respectfully:  Ben Kawalek, Frank Mezzina, Joe Cosenza, Ian Cairns, Marc Parto, Nick Antorio, Tony Urgola, Jimmy Durkin, Matt Davies, and Joe Moreale.

Best of Luck is given to the Senior Golden Bears as they go on to play New Milford this coming Saturday, October 31, 2009 at their home field in hopes to make their record an impeccable, undefeated record of 8-0!
