FRANK MARASS
VERNON — Frank Marass, 97, of Vernon, died on July 25, 2005,
at St. Clair’s Hospital in Denville, following a short illness.
Born to Frank C. and Eva in Brooklyn, N.Y., he lived in Lyndhurst
and Rutherford before moving to Pompton Lakes and later to the Mc
Afee section of Vernon in 1968.
Mr. Marass worked as a budget analyst for the Curtiss Wright Division
of Wright Aeronautics in Wood-Ridge for 35 years.
A parishioner of St. Jude the Apostle R.C. Church in Hamburg, he
was an affiliated member of the Third Order of the Franciscans and
active in Christ House, Andover.
He was predeceased in 1995 by his wife of 67 years, Ellen Lyons,
who had been a school teacher in the Lyndhurst Public Schools and
St. Mary’s, Rutherford. His only brother, John, of Rutherford,
died in 1999.
He is survived by his daughter, Eileen and his granddaughter, Tracy
of Ansley, Neb.; a great-grandson and great-great-granddaughter
in California; his sister-in-law, Virginia and nephew, John of Rutherford;
and nephews, Charles of Pennsylvania, Frank of California and David
Lyons of Texas.
LORENZO PIERGIOVANNI
LYNDHURST — Lorenzo Piergiovanni, 53, of Lyndhurst, died
on July 31, 2005, in Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, New
York City.
Born in Molfetta, Bari, Italy, he came to the United States in
1971. He lived in Hoboken and Jersey City before moving to Lyndhurst
10 years ago.
Mr. Piergiovanni was a longshoreman with American Stevador, Port
Elizabeth, Newark, for 26 years before retiring in 2004.
He was a member of the Longshoreman’s Union.
He is survived by his wife, Josephine Piergionvanni (nee Zoccali);
his mother, Isabellangela Piergiovanni (nee De Gennaro); his son,
Vito Piergiovanni; his daughter, Isabella Piergiovanni; two brothers,
Antonio Piergiovanni and Frank Piergiovanni; and two sisters, Angela
Lisena and Victoria Sciancalepore.
Funeral mass was held in Sacred Heart R.C. Church, Lyndhurst. Entombment
in Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum, North Arlington. Arrangements made

AGNES J. HOVER
WOOD-RIDGE — Agnes J. Hover (nee Petrocelli), 83, of Wood-Ridge,
died on Aug. 2, 2005.
Born in Emerson, she lived there before moving to Wood-Ridge 42
years ago.
Mrs. Hover was a homemaker.
She was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Assumption R.C. Church
in Wood-Ridge.
She was predeceased by her husband, Seth Hover; her brother, Charles
Petrocelli; and two sisters, Frances Gatto and Josephine Biscelle.
She is survived by three daughters, Marie Hover and her husband,
Walter of Highland Lakes, Patricia Bologna of Wood-Ridge and Debra
Feldman of East Rutherford; two sisters, Joan Phillips of Wood-Ridge
and Marion Ramaglia of Rochelle Park; four grandchildren and five
great-grandchildren.
Funeral mass was held in Our Lady of the Assumption R.C. Church,
Wood-Ridge. Burial in George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus.

BENJAMIN CAPACCIO
LYNDHURST — Benjamin Capaccio, 85, of Hamilton Square, formerly
of Lyndhurst, died on Aug. 1, 2005.
Born in Lyndhurst, he lived there for 80 years before moving to
Hamilton Square.
Mr. Capaccio was director of sales and Eastern Regional Sales Manager
for Weyerhaeuser Co. of Tacoma, Wash., for 15 years before retiring
in 1978.
He was a Staff Sergeant for the U.S. Army Air Corps during World
War II.
He was a founding member and commander (1949, 1961, 1962) of AWW
Lewandowski Post No. 20 Amvets of Lyndhurst. He was also a member
of Lyndhurst Elks BPOE No. 1505 for more than 40 years.
He was a graduate of Lyndhurst High School Class of 1939, and attended
classes at Stevens Institute of Technology and the American Management
Association.
He received his certification from Rutgers University in AHERA.
Mr. Capaccio was an Asbestos Manager for the Lyndhurst Board of
Education.
He was the a founder and two-term president for AARP No. 4319,
and was the liaison for the National AARP, Washington, D.C.
He was the Amvets Coach for Lyndhurst Little League.
He was a Post No. 20 member of the Bergen County Legislative Advisory
Board, and a former member of the Lyndhurst Planning Board, inducted
into the Nick DeLeo Hall of Fame, Lyndhurst.
He was predeceased by his brother, Lt. Paul M. Capaccio, U.S. Army
Air Corps (killed in action in World War II); his sister-in-law,
Ann (Howard) Tirgrath of Las Vegas, Nev.; and brothers-in-law, Michael
(Denise) Tessalone of Torrance, Calif., and Robert (Sally) Tessalone
of Rutherford.
He is survived by his wife, Dolores Capaccio of Hamilton Square;
his daughter and son-in-law, Mia and Michael Pelosci of Hamilton
Square; two sisters, Josephine Abate LoGatto of Fairfield and Connie
Noreiko-DeLisi of Flagler Beach, Fla.; his granddaughter, Ariana
Helen Pelosci; a sister-in-law, Virginia (Walter) Kelly of Doylestown,
Pa.; nephews, Joseph and George Abate and families; niece and nephews,
BethAnn Makowski, David and Robert Kelly and families; nieces, Ava,
Lori and Tami Tirgrath and families; and nephew, Tim Tessalone.
Funeral mass was held in Sacred Heart R.C. Church, Lyndhurst. Interment
in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Lyndhurst. Arrangements made by

MARIE A. HYDE
LYNDHURST — Marie A. Hyde (nee Golian), 76, died on Aug.
2, 2005, at her home in Lyndhurst.
Born in Alton, Ill., she lived in North Arlington before moving
to Lyndhurst 25 years ago.
Mrs. Hyde was a social worker with the Bergen County Board of Social
Services in Paramus for 27 years before retiring in 2001.
She is survived by her sons, Warren M., Michael F. and Jonathan
L. Hyde; her grandchildren, Jillian, Thomas, Pamela and Gabriel
Hyde; and her brothers, Thadeus, Joseph and Andrew Golian.
Memorial service was held in the Episcopal Church of St. Andrew

FORTUNATA DE LELLIS
LYNDHURST — Fortunata De Lellis (nee Simone), 84, died on
Aug. 3, 2005, at her Lyndhurst residence.
Born in Lyndhurst, she was a lifelong resident there.
Mrs. De Lellis was a homemaker.
She was predeceased by her husband, John S. De Lellis in August
1999; and by her son, Frank De Lellis.
She is survived by her children, Mary Jo Spagnuolo of Lyndhurst,
Geraldine Potoczniak of Lyndhurst, John J. De Lellis of Bloomfield
and Richard De Lellis of Manahawkin.

RUTHERFORD — Emily B. Ott, 80, of Rutherford, died on Aug.
3, 2005.
She was born in Passaic.
Mrs. Ott was a Passaic County Court Clerk and a member of the Passaic
County Republican Club.
She was predeceased by her husband, Harold.
She is survived by her son, Wayne; her daughter, Charlene; a sister,
Patricia Scott; three nephews and two nieces.

EDWARD T. GILLMAN
RUTHERFORD — Edward T. Gillman, 95, of Rutherford, died on
Aug. 2, 2005.
He was born in Jersey City.
Mr. Gillman was a plant manager for National Starch in Belleville.
He was predeceased by his wife, Loretta (nee Glospie); and his
son, Edward Jr.
He is survived by three daughters, Laurie Fanelli, Jane Cokely
and Marian Chi Spearman; six grandchildren, Jane Oper, Russel Kellog,
Cristina Fanelli Babits, Marissa Fanelli, Julie Fanelli and Nicole
Cokely; and many young friends.

CHRISTINE TARA BURKHARD
NORTH ARLINGTON — Christine Tara Burkhard, 26, died on July
30, 2005, at her home in North Arlington.
Born in Morristown, she lived in North Arlington for the past 24
years.
She is a 1997 graduate of North Arlington High School.
Miss Burkhard worked as a veterinary assistant at the Cedar Knolls
Animal Hospital. Previously, she worked for two years at the Hal
Wheller Boarding and School for Dogs in Cedar Knolls.
He is survived by her parents, Charles and Josephine (nee Punzie)
Burkhard; her sister, Elisa Burkhard; her aunt, Roseann Arasin;
and many loving cousins.

BIAGIO JOSEPH DI STASO
LYNDHURST — Biagio Joseph Di Staso, MD, 77, of Clifton, died
on Aug. 1, 2005, in Buono Vento, Italy.
Born in Jersey City and raised in San Lupo, Italy, he returned
to the United States in 1958 and was a resident of Clifton for many
years.
He attended the University of Naples Medical School, Naples, Italy,
where he graduated in 1957. Dr. Di Staso had a private practice
in Lyndhurst for 43 years.
He was a member of the staff of Clara Maass Medical Center, Belleville.
He is survived by his wife, Elisa Di Staso (nee Carpinelli) of
Clifton; two children, Teresa Di Staso (Kenneth Staats) and Joseph
Di Staso; and two siblings, Modestino Di Staso of Cliffside Park
and Florence Scardgno of Palisades Park.

MILDRED RUDOVITZ
NORTH ARLINGTON — Mildred Rudovitz, 90, of North Arlington,
died on Aug. 4, 2005, at the Clara Maass Continuing Care Center,
Kearny.
Born in Fort Anne, N.Y., she lived in Simpson, Pa., for many years
before moving to North Arlington more than 30 years ago.
She worked as a seamstress for Lemay Co. in Lyndhurst before retiring
12 years ago.
She was predeceased by her parents, Peter and Mary Radodwitzh.
She is survived by brother, Andrew Rudowitz and his wife, Helyn
of North Arlington; and many nieces and nephews.

Interment in George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus.
SALVATORE GABRIELE
LYNDHURST — Salvatore Gabriele, 43, died on Aug. 3, 2005,
in Lyndhurst.
Born in Italy, he moved to Lyndhurst 31 years ago.
Mr. Gabriele was a foreman for Bravante Fire Sprinklers in Boonton
for the past eight years.
He is survived by his wife, Josephine Gabriele (nee Gencarelli);
his mother, Angelina Gabriele (nee Cairo); two daughters, Stephanie
and Pamela Gabriele; his son, John Gabriele; two sisters, Giuseppina
and Maria Gabriele; and three brothers, Antonio, Francesco and Pietro
Gabriele.

MARION L. BORKOWSKI
CARLSTADT — Marion L. Borkowski (nee Antritter), 77, of Carlstadt,
died on Aug. 4, 2005.
Born in Newark, she lived in Irvington before moving to Carlstadt
in 1981.
Mrs. Borkowski was a commercial service representative for PIA
(Professional Insurance Associates) in Carlstadt for 15 years before
retiring in 1999.
She was a member of the AARP.
She was predeceased by her husband, Edward S. Borkowski.
She is survived by her sister-in-law, Josephine Borkowski of Westfield;
her niece and nephew, Jan Borkowski and Mark Borkowski; and her
dear friends, Betsy M. Bardick and Joseph J. Bardick of Wallington.

RUTHERFORD — Philomena A. Pirnat (nee Martinetti), 70, of

Mrs. Pirnat was a former school aide at Union School, Rutherford.
She was a member of 55 Kip Center, Rutherford.

COSTANTO “CHRIS” CINARDO
LYNDHURST — Costanto “Chris” Cinardo, 85, of
Lyndhurst, died on Aug. 4, 2005, in the Clara Maass Medical Center,
Belleville.
Born and raised in Lyndhurst, he was a lifelong resident there.
Mr. Cinardo was a self-employed carpenter for more than 50 years,
retiring in 1995.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was a member of UNICO, Mount Carmel Seniors, Sacred Heart Seniors,
BPOE Elks Lodge No. 1505, AARP No. 4866 and the Amvets Post No.
20, all of Lyndhurst.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Cinardo (nee Mollica); his two
children, Carl Cinardo of Lyndhurst and Christine Esposito of New
Smyrna Beach, Fla.; his brother, Gino Cinardo of Harrison; and four
grandchildren.

LYNDHURST — Margareta H. Dittle (nee Hoffmeister), 83, died
on Aug. 6, 2005, at the Parker Jewish Institute, New Hyde Park,
N.Y.
Born in Germany, she lived in Lyndhurst for 25 years before moving
to New Hyde Park five years ago.
Mrs. Dittle was a housewife.
She was predeceased by her son, Walter Dittle.
She is survived by her daughter, Loretta Brady of New Hyde Park;
and two grandchildren.
